Remembering with a Dream

It's Tuesday!  This week's challenge on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog is to use the colors of lilac and lavender.  Play along with us to win two free digi images of your choice from Sassy Cheryl's!

I printed the Sassy Cheryl's digital image the image of "A No. 2 Pencil & a Dream" onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  Once finished, I framed the image panel with black cardstock and a piece of purple cardstock.  The purple cardstock was stamped with a Hero Arts background stamp called "Circle Pattern" with Whispers Whisper Lilac.

Sometimes cardmaking can be therapeutic.  It elicits emotions.  Making this card was one of those times.  I guess using the shades of purple to meet the challenge, made me think of pancreatic cancer (purple is the color of pancreatic cancer awareness).  I lost two friends to pancreatic cancer, one in December 2012 and one in July 2013.  I traveled many miles, many times across the midwest with these two friends going to Buckeye away games for over ten years.  With the onset of Buckeye football, they are both on my mind.  And most certainly in my heart.

So with the flood of these emotions, I added an awareness ribbon image from Outlines Rubber Stamp Company to the card.  My dream would be for this terrible, terrible cancer to be eradicated because a diagnosis pretty much means a painful fight to the end.  I'm glad these two amazing ladies are free of pain, and are watching the games this year in their new preemo seats.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Aw honey, such beautiful memories that you have of your friends. This most beautiful card is a lovely tribute to both of them. Maybe your post will generate lots of prayers for an end to this horrible disease. Hugs and prayers.
