Freezin' For You
Perhaps this card was somehow inspired by our recent heatwave. I guess, I'm dreaming of a little freezing right now.
This card is actually a result of this week's crazy challenge over on the DRS Designs Blog, called "That's Unexpected". Basically it means to incorporate something totally unexpected on your card. I decided to put this Hula Pig in a snow storm. You've heard of the Polar Club before, now there's the Porker Club, LOL!
I made this card by creating the background first. On Georgia Pacific white cardstock, I place a torn Post-It note to create a mask for the snow-covered ground. Using a brayer, I applied SeaShells Cloudy Blue dye ink and ColorBox Ice Blue chalk ink to create a basecoat. I then sponged on Adirondack Sailboat Blue and Distress Ink Faded Jeans dye inks around the edges of the scene. I painted the snowflakes with Copic Opaque White and removed the mask.
Then, on scraps of X-Press It cardstock, I stamped the DRS Designs image of "Hula Pig" with Memento Tuxedo dye. I colored her with Copic markers and cut with my detailed scissors. I also stamped the DRS Designs image of "Palm Tree" onto a scrap of X-Press cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black. I colored it with Copics as well and cut with my detailed scissors. I added both to the snow scene, and added some more snowflakes with Copic Opaque White directly on top of the pig and tree. A little shadow work on the ground was done with a Copic markers.
I stamped a portion of the DRS Designs sentiment of "Melt For You Greeting" with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. I wrote in the word "Freeze".
I framed the scene with black and light blue cardstock.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog today. Sometimes, you never know what to expect.
