Surprise from Jason

Ten years ago, I had a student named Jason in my Kindergarten classroom.  Fast forward to last week when I reached into my home mailbox.  I found a package from Jason.  In it was the most adorable dachshund pillowcase ever.  I am touched that he thought of me and remembered my love for Sloopy after all of these years. 

So, I made him this thank you card.  The fun dachshund alphabet is from Cowtown Stamps, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. The other part of the sentiment is from Honeybee Stamps.  That's some fun washi tape along the bottom of the card.

Thanks so much, Jason!  I'm so proud of the kindhearted soul you are. 

Easter Dachshund Pop Up Box Card

Just now getting this posted.  I made it yesterday to give to my Mom.  It's my first pop up box card.  I followed the wonderful tutorial by Dina on Splitcoaststampers.

Stamps used include Cowtown, Whimsie Doodles, and dollar stamps from Michaels.  Patterned paper from Pebbles and DCWV.  I used a MFT die for the grass, some acetate to get the Peep to float and a Viva Ice White Pearl pen for the bunny tail and "pearls" around the sentiment.

My Mom seemed to love it.

The hardest part of the whole project was photographing it, LOL.

Wiener Roast

This card happened as a result of me being so excited about this a jillian vance design "Sunburst Swirl" background stamp.  It was late at night...I just wanted to stamp it onto a piece of cardstock before going to bed thinking I will use it at a later time.  When I awoke, I saw Sloopy and remembered the sunburst...and the phrase "wiener roast" came to mind.  And this is the card that resulted.

The a jillian vance design "Sunburst Swirl" was stamped with Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye onto white cardstock.  I did do a little orange colored pencil work in the center of the swirl.  I added an orange brad in the center.

Then on a piece of X-Press It cardstock I stamped the sunbathing dachshund from Cowtown Stamps with Marvy black dye.  I colored it with Copic markers and cut with detailed scissors.  I placed it onto my sunburst.

The sentiment was stamped with a alphabet set from Fiskers using Versafine Onyx Black.

I framed the sunburst scene with black and turquoise cardstock.

I made this card for JUN13VSNL's Challenge, "Who Let the Dogs Out?".  The challenge asks to use the letters D-O-G in our creation.  Here's mine:

D - Dog
O - Orange
G - Gradient of color

I do believe I have a warped sense of humor.  And, I do believe you will be seeing this awesome background again.  I'm not going to put it away.  ;-)

Surfer Dox!

This just might be my favorite card I made this weekend.  I know I now have a favorite background stamp, that's for sure!

This card was made for JUN13VSNM's "Water, Water, Everywhere!", which was to use a water image or to actually use water in some way to create the card.

I stamped the surfer dachshund from Cowtown Stamps with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock and colored the image with Copic markers.  I added a bit of sparkle with a clear Sakura gelly roll pen on the waves.  I cut around this image with detailed scissors.

For the scene, I drew in the water with Copic markers onto another piece of X-Press It cardstock.  For the sun, I stamped a portion of my new favorite background stamp called Sunburst Swirl from a jillian vance design using Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye right along the horizon line.  The sentiment is from the Taylored Expressions "Hanging Out at the Beach" and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.  I framed my scene with black cardstock and mounted with kraft.

I then pop-dotted my surfer onto the card.

Love the look of this.  I'm wondering if Sloopy would like to try this out, LOL.

Easter Dachshund (with video!)

I've never done this before, so be kind.  I am sharing a video of my coloring.  This is a true learning curve for me but something I have been wanting to do for a long time. To do this I had to figure my way around a video camera, iMovie and YouTube. 

The image on this card is from Cowtown Stamps.  I stamped the dachshund bunny with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored with Copic markers:

Then I cut around the image with a Nestabilities oval.  I paper pierced around the image and framed with a scalloped oval also cut with a Nestabilities die using pink cardstock.  Strips of patterned paper from DCWV were framed with pink cardstock.  The larger card panel was dry embossed with a Spellbinders folder, paper pierced and faux stitched with a colored pencil.  A scalloped border from MFT die-namics was used to cut pink paper.  This was placed near the bottom of the card.  Sheer white ribbon and bow and three pink rhinestones were added to the card.  The image was pop-dotted onto the card.

Cocktail Wieners

I have a warped sense of humor and a huge collection of dachshund stamps. So, when I saw the CAS#122 Challenge on Splitcoast, which is "Play on Words", I just had to play along.

The stamps I used include "Mixed Cocktails" from Stamps Happen, and two dachshund stamps from Cowtown Stamps. I inked the Stamps Happen image with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker and stamped onto X-Press It cardstock. Then, with my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I positioned the two different dachshunds from Cowtown Stamps into the cocktail glasses. I colored the scene with Copic markers.

I place the image panel onto a scrap of patterned paper from Lasting Impressions. The sentiment, which is my play on words, was computer-generated. The two dog paws are a portion of a stamp from Hero Arts. A ribbon was tied around the card to add the finishing details.

Dog Days of Summer

Here's another card I made during the Virtual Stamp Night challenges on Splitcoast. Specifically, this one was inspired by the challenge, "Off, Into the Sunset," which challenged us to sponge a background.

I knew I wanted to create a beach scene, and I wanted to use the dachshund image from Cowtown Stamps. And, from that, this card emerged. I sponged the sky and water using the following dye inks: Memories Soft Baby Blue, Marvy Caribbean Blue, Adirondack Sailboat Blue, and Adirondack Denim. A white gel pen provided some of the whitecaps. The sand is made with a torn strip of paper sponging the following dye inks: SeaShells Sandal, SeaShells Peach Bellini, Adrirondack Latte. A Stampendous sand stamp was stamped with Brilliance Pearlescent Beige Pigment Ink randomly to give the sand the appearance of texture. Also dots of Copic markers and a Sakura glitter pen helped with this effort.

The adorable dachshund sandcastle image from Cowtown Stamps was stamped with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock and colored with Copic markers. The image was then cut out and placed into the scene. A little shadowing with a Prismacolor pencil was done on the sand, along with two faint paw prints. The beach ball is from a larger image from Inkadinkado, and the birds are from My Favorite Things.

The patterned paper is from Bo Bunny and the card and scene are framed with black cardstock. The sentiment is computer-generated, Baker's Twine and a clear button were attached as the finishing elements of this card.

I, for one, cannot wait for the dogs days of summer. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having my summer off. This warm summer-like weekend was just a preview.

Fishing Dachshund

How awesome to have a three day weekend. Yay for guilt-free cardmaking time.

I'm going to be in need of a birthday card soon for someone who adores dachshunds, just like me. I began to play around with this adorable fishing dachshund from Cowtown Stamps and took a peek at this weekend's Sketch For You To Try, SFYTT090410. This card resulted.

I stamped the dachshund image from Cowtown Stamps using Marvy dye black ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I used a Nestabilities die to make a circle panel. I decided to try to incorporate some of the panels of the sketch into my fishing scene, so I colored these panels with Copic markers also. Patterned paper was also used. A gel pen made the wave highlights near the boat, fish brads were added to "sea", a dog bone embellishment was used as the "bait", and I used a paper punch for the bubbles along one panel and wrapped that panel with a sheer white ribbon. The sentiment is a portion of a stamp from StampIn that I inked with a black Memento marker. The sun was cut with a Nestabilities die and colored with Copic markers.

What a fun card. I enjoyed making it.

Rockin' Hound Dog

My dachshund, Sloopy, found herself in need of a birthday card for her best friend, the Gracie Dog. So, she asked me if I could help her out with this. I'm always happy to make a card for someone as long as they give me an advanced notice, and Sloopy always does. She's pretty on top of things, unlike me.

The dachshund image is from Cowtown Stamps. I stamped it with Marvy dye black ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. I colored it with Copic markers and then cut it out and placed it onto an embossed Nestabilities oval that I sponged using the following dye inks: SeaShells Conch Shell, SeaShells Peach Bellini, Distress Ink Mustard Seed, and Adirondack Sunset Orange.

The musical notes were cut using my Cricut and embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. Little dog paw embellishments were added to the notes. The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Patterned paper layers were also used to complete this card.

This card fits the SCS Dare to Get Dirty Challenge,DTGD10AmberDawn01, which was to get in touch with texture.

I hope the Gracie Dog likes her card. Sloopy seems to approve.

Sloopy Asked For Me

Those of you following the saga of me getting a wedding party together will be pleased to learn that I got Sloopy to ask her sitter if she would be in the wedding. And, thanks to Sloopy's efforts, I'm elated that she agreed to be a part of our special day.

I decided to make the front of the card seem like any other card. This would fit Sloopy's personality. The Sloopy Dog looks out for herself first and is always demanding belly rubs. This adorable dachshund image is from Cowtown Stamps. I stamped the image with Marvy dye black ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. I colored it with Copic markers and cut it out to adhere to the patterned paper panels. The speech bubble and sentiment are computer-generated. Patterned paper, black cardstock, ribbon and adhesive pearls were also used to complete the front of this card.

The inside of the card is where the question is asked...I altered a Cowtown Stamps dachshund image by placing a bouquet from Hero Arts into the mouth of the dog. These images, like those on the front of the card, were also stamped with Marvy dye black onto Georgia Pacific cardstock and Colored with Copic markers. Patterned paper, black cardstock, and computer-generated speech bubble and sentiment were also used to complete the inside of the card.

Dachshund Easter Surprise

I thought it might be fun to go through my dachshund stamp stash to see if I had any dachshund Easter images. I was delighted to find this adorable little dachshund hatching from an Easter egg. The image is from Cowtown Stamps. I stamped it with Marvy dye black ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. I colored the image with Copic Markers. I decided to use an oval Nestabilities die to make the oval shape. The sentiment tag is a Cuttlebug die. Patterned paper, colored cardstock and paper piercing, ribbon, and brads were also used to create this card. The sentiment was taken from a portion of an image from Inky Antics.

This card will more than likely go to Sloopy's sitter. It only seems appropriate, don't you think?

Happy 2010, Dachshund Style

Happy 2010. This certainly promises to be a great year.

In order to create this card, I finally opened up the box containing my new Cricut. I am so grateful to my colleague who gave me a Cricut for Christmas. Yes, you are reading that right. She gave me a Cricut! For the past two weeks, however, I have been afraid to take it out of the box, not knowing exactly how to work a Cricut. But, when I had this idea for a card...I needed some die cut numerals, so I had to overcome my fear.

How fun the Cricut is! How easy the Cricut is! Wow!

I cut the numerals 2010 from black cardstock using the George cartridge that comes in the box. I then proceeded to glue them onto a white strip of Georgia Pacific cardstock where I had stamped the New Year's Eve dachshund image from Cowtown stamps using Marvy Dye black. I overlapped the last zero over the dachshund, and then stamped a duplicate image onto another sheet of paper and proceeded to color the image with Copic markers. I cut this image and lined it up on the strip so that the dachshund appears to be stepping from the zero. Neat, huh?

The sentiment is computer-generated. Patterned paper and a dog paw brad were also used to complete this card.

So, there you have it. This card meets the requirements of NYE09B on Splitcoast, which was to somehow showcase or use a noisemaker on your creation. And, this card also fits ssnotime120 Stamp Simply #120 challenge, which was to use something new. For me, that was my Cricut.

Here's hoping that 2010 is a real "weiner" for you.

Buttercream Dachshund

So, yeah. It's me again.

I needed a birthday card for the lady who watches Sloopy during the day while I work. So I thought that this adorable dachshund image from Cowtown would be quite appropriate. I stamped the image with Marvy Dye black ink onto a scrap of Georgia Pacific cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I used various colored cardstock and patterned paper, utilizing Splitcoast's Sketch Challenge #244. It has been ages since I've completed a challenge, as you know. I also used brads, a corner punch, and ribbon to also complete the card, along with some paper piercing.

I'm sure Sloopy's sitter will like this card fine. I'm just liking that I had a reason to create. Felt very therapeutic after yesterday's Ohio State loss to USC.

Thanks, Again

I promise this will be the last dachshund thank you. For the time being, at least. As I addressed all of the recent cards, I realized that I needed one more. So, here it is. It is using SCS sketch challenge #234 for a layout. The dachshund image is from Cowtown Stamps and is stamped using Marvy dye black onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. Patterned paper, colored cardstock, paper piercer, ribbon, brads and Cuttlebug embossing folder were also used to complete this card.

You would have thought that 12 thank you cards would make a dent into my blue scraps. Not the case.

More Dachsie Thank Yous

This week has found me making thank you cards, and along the way, trying to make a dent into my stash of blue scrap paper. So, here are some more thank you cards that I have to share...all using that adorable thank you dachshund image from Cowtown Stamps. This was a great exercise for me, considering that I'm layout challenged. For the card pictured above, I did use this week's Sketch Challenge, #233, on Splitcoast. And, like always, all images were stamped with Marvy Dye ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. Sometimes paper piercing was done. Sometimes a Cuttlebug was used. Ribbons and brads adorn these cards too. Amazing that for all eleven dachshund cards, not a single piece of new paper was cut. All eleven were made from scraps. Yay me!

Now I am pleased to report that I have the thank you cards that I need so that I can properly thank some students for some end of the year gifts they gave to me.

I need a Father's Day card, so I'm guessing that will be my next post, so stay tuned this weekend for that.

Welcome to the Stamping Deets

Welcome to my new blog!

My old blog was so sorely in need of an updated look, but as I started to play around with things, I discovered it was much easier just to build a new blog. You know, kinda like how so often buildings are built new rather than being renovated. I also wanted to have a stamping specific blog. It seemed like my last blog was a catch all for everything in my life.

So, my first post is photo intensive. I am in the midst of trying to reduce the huge amount of blue scraps that I have and I'm also in need of many thank you cards. This past weekend, I stamped several images of this cute little dachshund from Cowtown Stamps onto Georgia Pacific cardstock with Marvy Dye black ink. I colored the image with Copic markers. The various patterned papers are from my blue scrap drawer (and brown scrap drawer too). I did lots of paper piercing too on these cards.

I can't guarantee a post every day like some, nor can I promise you a six card post when I do, but again... welcome to the Stamping Deets. I hope you'll visit again.
