Patriotic Sunburst Swirl

I was taking a look at my "Sunburst Swirl" stamp from A Jillian Vance Design and I had the idea of the swirls becoming stripes on an American flag.  Brilliant, yes?

I stamped "Sunburst Swirl" with Distress Ink Fire Brick onto white glossy cardstock.  I framed swirl with navy blue cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment, also from A Jillian Vance Design with Distress Ink Faded Jeans onto a strip of white cardstock.  It too was framed with navy blue cardstock.

Using a die from The Cats Pajamas, I cut a star from white and navy cardstock and adhered to the card.  I added a button with Baker's Twine.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, and thanks to those who have served our country.

Let's Get the Celebration Started

Sassy Cheryl's, Kecia Waters, Copic markers
I'm always amazed by how many days early Fourth of July celebrations begin.  I'm not opposed to it at all.  It's just that it is *June 28* and around here there are parades to kick of the Fourth of July holiday, and I think a nearby community is having their fireworks display tomorrow.  They should really call it a Fourth of July week.  It seems to be a 5-7 day celebration that goes from one weekend to the next weekend.    Let's get the celebration going...

This card uses the digital image of "Avery's Big Patriotic Hat" from Sassy Cheryl's.  She is just too cute!  I printed the image onto X-Press It cardstock and colored the image with Copic markers.  I kept the layout very CAS. I added two flags cut with MFT die-namics (patterned paper from The Paper Studio and Bella Blvd), a star cut with a TCP die cut, and a button tied with Baker's Twine.

The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onxy Black and is from A Jillian Vance Design's "Miss Adventure: Celebrate" stamp set.

Thanks for taking time out of your celebrations to visit my blog today, LOL!

Skating

Here's another birthday card that I am rolling into my Etsy store, Cards By Kecia.  Cute little image from Nellie Snellen that I purchased in Buffalo, almost two years ago.  This is the first time it has seen ink, which is sad.

Supplies:  Nellie Snellen Stamp, X-Press It cardstock, Copic markers, black cardstock, Doodlebug Designs patterned paper, buttons, and Baker's Twine.  Sentiment is from Rubber Soul and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.

As we roll into the weekend, make it a great one!  Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Don't Forget to Make a Wish

MFT, Kecia Waters, Copic markers, Flopsy

I was going through some birthday stamps of mine, and came across Flospy from My Favorite Things.  He was needing to be colored, so I just had to drop everything and make this card.

I stamped Flopsy with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers, and then used the out-of-the-box technique with an oval Nestabilities die.  I paper pierced the oval.

The patterned paper on this card is from Cloud9 Design.  I paper pierced it as well and faux stitched with a colored pencil.  I stamped the swirls with a stamp from Bugawumps with SeaShells Seashell Pink dye ink.  A button with Baker's Twine was added to the card, and the sentiment is from the stamp set.

This Flopsy card is hopping over to my Etsy shop, CardsByKecia.  Perfect for someone with an upcoming birthday, don't you think?

Reflective Frog Birthday Wishes

Kecia Waters, Copic markers, DRS Designs
I am having a ball grabbing some previously used images and inking them again and coloring them up.

This adorable from is from DRS Designs.  I stamped the image onto X-Press It cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and cut with detailed scissors and set aside.  Then on a piece of X-Press It cardstock cut with a Nestabilities oval die, I stamped the frog again, colored the water and grass with Copics, and made the clouds with Pan Pastels.  I adhered the colored frog to the scene, and used Diamond Glaze to add reflection to the water.  The oval was framed with black cardstock.

No clue on the maker fo the patterned paper, but I do know it is a scrap from JoAnn's.  I added a couple buttons, and twine, and then paper pierced and faux stitched with a colored pencil.  The sentiment is from MFT and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.

Thanks for hopping over to my blog today!  This card is hopping over to my Etsy shop, CardsByKecia, if interested.

Sunrise

Terry Medaris, Kecia Waters, Prismacolor Pencils
This is what happens when you neglect using your colored pencils.  I'm making a commitment to use them more, and figure out which ones have "disappeared".  Seriously, where did all my oranges and yellows go?  I will solve the mystery, LOL!

Stamped image is from Terry Medaris Art Stamps and is called "Sunrise".  I stamped it onto Bristol Smooth using Stazon Jet Black.  I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils and sprayed with a Workable Fixative.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.

Fishing Friends

High Hopes, Kecia Waters, Copic markers
I'm on a cardmaking roll.  It's summer.  It's all good.

Today, I'm sharing a card I made with an image from High Hopes called "Fishing Friends".  I actually won this adorable image in one of their challenges a few months ago (thank you!) and I thought this was a great time to ink it up. Don't you think the doggie looks like Sloopy?

I stamped "Fishing Friends" with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

The image is framed with black cardstock and the larger card panel is patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs.  The sentiment is from There She Goes, and a small silver little fish brad complete the details on this card.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.  And thanks so much to High Hopes for the free stamp!  I'm entering this card into their current challenge #223, "Water".

Summer Delight

Impression Obsession, Kecia Waters, Copic markers

Ice cream.  The beach.  I'm thinking a day couldn't get any better.

This sweet image is from Impression Obsession and is called "Summer Delight".  I just had to have it for obvious reasons, can you guess?  Anyway, I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers and drew in the beach around the image with Copic markers as well.  The sun was sponged with SeaShells Conch Shell dye ink.  The white caps on the ocean were made with a white Uni-ball Signo pen.

I framed the scene with black cardstock and patterned paper from Jillibean Soup.

I am entering this into the current challenge over on the Impression Obsession blog, "Are We There Yet?"  Don't I wish, LOL!  I would love to be at the beach with my Sloopy.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today!

For my card, I used the Sassy Cheryl's digital image of "Seriously".   I printed the image onto X-Press It cardstock and colored the image with Copic markers.  Using an oval Nestabilities die, I used the out-of-the-box technique, and framed with black cardstock.  Patterned paper from Jillibean Soup was used, along with white and black cardstocks to complete the layers of this card.  Three small brads complete the details of this card, along with the sentiment, also a part of "Seriously".

Seas the Day, Please

A Jillian Vance Design, Whimsie Doodles, Kecia Waters, Copic markers
Oh why can't I look out my window and see this view?!  If you haven't noticed, I'm starting to get into my yearly longing for the ocean.  Usually what happens is I'll incorporate ocean scenes into my cards.  You've been forewarned.

I made this CAS card using A Jillian Vance Design's "Seas the Day" stamp set from Whimsie Doodles. X-Press It cardstock, Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink, Copic markers, Versafine Onyx Black ink, and black cardstock.  No real mysteries here.

Here's wishing you a great week!

Day Dream Believin'

Sassy Cheryl's, Kecia Waters, Copic markers
I'm loving this new digital image from Sassy Cheryl's called "Day Dream Believin'"  She should have called it "Kecia & Sloopy", don't you think?  LOL!

I printed the image onto X-Press It cardstock and colored the image (relaxing!) with Copic markers.  Then I framed the image with black cardstock and place it upon a panel of patterned paper from Jillibean Soup.

The sentiment is from a Michael's $1 stamp, and was inked with Versafine Onyx Black.  A little button and Baker's Twine put this finishing touches on this card.

Here's hoping you get a little day dreaming in today!  Thanks for visiting my blog!

Jump for Joy!

Doodle Pantry, dachshund, Kecia Waters, Copic markers

This is such a fun digital image from the Doodle Pantry.  It is from the set "Dizzy Dachshund".  It reminds me so much of Sloopy, so this is a happy card for me.  I love to see Sloopy running (and flying through the air), because I am reminded of last January when she could not and had to have back surgery.

I printed the dachshund image onto X-Press It cardstock and colored the image with Copic markers.  I cut around the image with detailed scissors.

I cut a circle with a Nestabilities die, and drew in the grass and sky to create a little scene for the dog to be jumping from.  I framed the circle with black cardstock.

Patterned paper from Bo Bunny serves as the main panel, and is paper pierced and faux stitched with a colored pencil.  It is framed with black cardstock.

The sentiment is one of many from the Dizzy Dachshund set.  It was printed and a MFT die-namic was used to create the flag.  A dog paw brad was used to hold the flag in place.

I glued the rear of the dachshund onto the circle scene, and the front of the dachshund is pop-dotted to give the illusion of truly jumping forward.

I'm loving it.  I hope you do too!

I Love Big Books

AJVD, Whimsie Doodles, Copic markers, Kecia Waters

I am loving not only the image but the sentiment from one of the newest sets from A Jillian Vance Design, "Miss Adventure: My Bookie" by Whimsie Doodles.  Perfect for me, the reading teacher, don't you think?

Anyhow, what you really need to know are the following deets:  X-Press It cardstock, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and Copic markers.  The strip of patterned paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle (seemed rather perfect).  The library card is a result of a Google image search of "free printable library card".

So great to be coloring again!  I had some other things to attend to for the past week, and now I can get into summertime coloring mode.  YAY!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today!

Happy Retirement in the Sand

Taylored Expressions, Kecia Waters, Copic markers

Someday, eh?  LOL.

You know how I love doing ocean scenes, and I needed a retirement card (jealous!), so I pulled out a great stamp set from Taylored Expressions called "A Day in Paradise".

To make this card, I stamped the Adirondack chairs and the umbrella onto X-Press It cardstock. For the umbrella, I did some paper piecing. The rest of the scene was colored with Copic markers. I sponged some SeaShells Conch Shell dye ink for the sun, and used a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to draw the birds.

The sentiment, also from Taylored Expressions, was stamped in Brilliance Pearlescent Beige.

I framed the scene with kraft, and then placed onto a card panel made with patterned paper from Colorbok.

Please, can I go there?  Please.

Doodling Around

Time to doodle!  There's a new challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog...doodling!  Make sure you play along for your chance to win free digital stamps from Sassy Cheryl.

For my card (the card my husband refers to as the card with dead flowers on it), I printed the image from the Sassy Cheryl's digital stamp set "Funky Flowers" onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored with Copic markers, and played around a little bit doing a yellow color was over the purple flowers.  Hmm.   I added some white highlights with a Uniball Signo pen. After coloring, I cut around the image with detailed scissors and placed aside.

I stamped a large Hero Arts background stamp with Adirondack Pool.  I doodled a frame around the card panel, wrote the sentiment, drew the heart and placed the flowers into the scene.  A purple button and Baker's Twine are the finishing touches to this card.

So, I'm not too crazy about this card after my husband's comments...but, I am so happy to say SCHOOL'S OUT!  IT'S SUMMER!  I'll now have some time to re-do a card, if necessary.  LOL!

You Blow Me Away

ADVD, Whimsie Doodles, Seas the Day, Copic markers, Kecia Waters

It's Monday!  Time for another card made with A Jillian Vance Design Stamps!  I'm still rather in love with "Seas the Day" from Whimsie Doodles so here's another card I've made using this set.

This is a quick CAS card.  I stamped the puffer fish with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored it with Copic markers, fussy cut, and set aside.

I applied Adirondack Pool dye ink directly onto an acrylic block, misted and stamped onto white cardstock.  After the paper dried, I cut and framed with black cardstock.

The sentiment, also from Seas the Day, was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black directly onto the rectangle.  The bubbles image, also a part of the stamp set, was stamped with Adirondack Pool  Using a Uniball Signo white pen, I traced around the outline of the bubbles.

Baker's Twine and a clear button add a few details to the card, along with the pop-dotted puffer fish.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog this week.  Make it a great week!  Lots of stamping coming into my future.  Soon.  Real soon.
