Snow Skating

It's Monday! What better way is there to make a Monday more bearable, than with a Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions?  This week’s SOTW is called "Snow Skating" (4714-L). The SOTW is available exclusively to Repeat Impressions blog readers at 50% OFF with the special discount code from Monday, December 31 to Sunday, January 6. To get the discount code and more information about the SOTW, please go to the Repeat Impressions blog, The House That Stamps Built.

I made this card by creating the background first.  On Georgia Pacific white cardstock, I place a torn Post-It note to create a mask for the snow-covered ground.  Using a brayer, I applied SeaShells Cloudy Blue dye ink and ColorBox Ice Blue chalk ink to create a basecoat.  I then sponged on Adirondack Sailboat Blue and Distress Ink Faded Jeans dye inks around the edges of the scene.  I painted the snowflakes with Copic Opaque White and removed the mask.

Then, on X-Press It cardstock I stamped the Repeat Impressions image "Snow Skating" (4714-L) with Marvy black dye.  I colored the image with Copic markers, adding some detail to the scarf and hat by drawing with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker.  I cut around the image with detailed scissors.

I stamped the image again, this time directly onto the scene, so I could have the swirl from the ice skates.  I adhered the snowman to the scene and added Icicle Stickles to the swirl for some sparkle. I framed the scene with black cardstock and a piece of patterned paper from My Mind's Eye.  A sheer white ribbon was added to the card.

Skate on over to see what the other Rock Stars made:

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today!  I sure do appreciate it!  If this happens to be my last post of the year, then I wish you the very best New Year's Eve and a very Happy 2013!

Wow Kecia, this is a beautiful card! I love how you've made the background sponging ink colors, your snowman has a wonderful glow behind him and I really like the blue/green color combination of his scarf, yep it's a beautiful card =)
