Fall Birthday Wishes

After what seemed like a work week that lasted an eternity, I was so excited that my X-Press It paper had arrived on Friday afternoon. I had to give it a test drive right away with my Copic markers, since that seems to be all the rage lately. Thought I would share with you my finished product and my initial thoughts about this paper.

I was delighted that the paper would actually go through my Epson printer, as Neenah Solar White cardstock does not. I printed this adorable image from Sassy Cheryl's called "The Rushed Gift", and proceeded to color with my Copic markers. What I noticed is that the ink stays wetter a bit longer than on Georgia Pacific cardstock and on Neenah Solar White, which gave me more time to blend and move the ink. I think this would be a plus for someone just beginning with alcohol markers. I framed the image with brown cardstock and other panels of patterned paper from Gooseberry and Heidi Grace Designs. I did a little paper piercing around the bigger patterned paper panel. I punched a scallop from a paper punch and added the sentiment from Stampendous onto a circle from Nestabilities with Versafine Onyx black pigment ink.

This card was inspired by Challenge #36 on Sassy Cheryl's Challenge blog, which was to "Think Fall". I tried to use fall colors in this creation, and think this will be a pretty decent birthday card to give during autumn because of the colors.

So, now I have 47 more sheets of X-Press It cardstock, a couple packages of Neenah Solar White cardstock, and tons of Georgia Pacific cardstock. Knowing me, I'll just reach for whatever is closest. ;-)
