Life Is Good in the Summertime

It's Tuesday!  It is time for another challenge on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog.  This week, the challenge is "Anything But A Card".  Sure hope you'll join us.  There are two free digital images up for grabs for one lucky participant.

For my project, I chose to do a tile coaster.  I have done coasters before, but never with an image colored with Copics.  While cleaning my stamp room (I know, GASP!) I came across an unused bottle of Artsy Collage Decoupage & Collage Gel.  Doing a little research, I then held my breath and gave it a try.

I stamped the Kraftin' Kimmie image from the "Totally Tubular" set with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  The sentiment is also from the "Totally Tubular" set and was stamped with Marvy black dye.  I framed the scene with black cardstock and mounted onto a piece of patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs.  I sprayed my art with Workable Fixative because I read somewhere that this helps keep the colors vibrant during this process.

Then, using a 16 cents ceramic tile from Home Depot, I spread the Decoupage gel with a foam brush onto the tile and adhered my square creation.  I then took the same brush and applied more gel on top of the image, smoothing out the bubbles as best as I could.  I allowed the coaster to dry overnight.

Upon waking the next day, I sprayed an acrylic glossy sealer to waterproof my coaster.  I affixed felt to the bottom of the coaster to prevent scratches on table services.

I love it!  My mind is saying these would make great Christmas gifts.

After I make a set for myself, that is! hahaha! Thanks so much for the inspiration...and the info on how you made it!! hugs. Pat Frank

I love your coasters Kecia so happy and beautifully colored. I made some years ago but didn't seal them good enough and the stamping eventually wore off. Yours is awesome and wonderful for the challenge, thanks :)
