Escaping the Cold

With back-to-back days off from work due to extreme cold temperatures, I have extra time to just color for fun.  Gotta love that! 

I decided to play in the current Tiddly Inks Challenge called "Warm Up".  I think we're all for that.

I printed the Tiddly Inks digital image of "Sollytude" onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored her with Copic markers.  Patterned paper is from Colorbok.  The sun is a circle cut with a Nestabilities die and sponged with Distress Ink Wild Honey.  Some Diamond Stickles gives the sun its sparkle.  The word "Escape" is from a Fiskars stamp set.

I'm ready to escape to somewhere warm.  Are you?

A Letter Sent With Love

It's Tuesday!  Time to play along again in this week's Sassy Cheryl's Challenge!  This week, the challenge is "Anything But Square", meaning our creations can't take on the shape of a square.  Play along for your chance to win two free digital images at Sassy Cheryl's.

Using Dina Kowal's fabulous tutorial and template on Splitcoast Stampers, I decided to make a word card.  These are so easy to do that I really should do more of them, LOL!

Anyway, I followed the instructions using some pink scraps of patterned paper from The Paper Studio and (source unknown~sorry!) to make the letters.  These letterw were framed with black cardstock.

I added the Sassy Cheryl image of "A Letter Sent with Love" by printing it onto X-Press It cardstock, coloring it with Copic markers, and cutting around the image with detailed scissors.

The postmark is a stamp that was custom-made for our wedding a few years ago (since my husband and I got married in an old post office).  Some pink rhinestones, sheer white ribbon and bow, a pink button and Baker's Twine complete the details on this card.

Fritz The Nite Owl

I made the mistake of giving this card to my husband for his birthday before taking a photo of it.  One of the Swarovski crystals has already fallen off the owl's glasses.  Oh well.

Those of you from Central Ohio may remember Fritz the Nite Owl as a movie host during the 80's and early 90's on channel 10.  Well, Fritz is back, this time hosting movies at a local theatre.  And since my husband loves movies, and I would rather do anything but watch a movie in a theatre...I bit the bullet and took him to see Fritz hosting Raiders of the Lost Ark (snore!) last night for his birthday.

I found this digital owl image from  "2 Cute Ink".  I printed it onto X-Press It cardstock, and then colored it with Copic markers.  Swarovski crystals were added to the glasses, as well as Diamond Glaze, to give mimic Fritz.  A white Sakura gel pen provide the stars in the sky, and a circle cut with a Nestabilities die gives us the moon.

The larger card panel is a piece of kraft, and the buildings were repeatedly stamped along the bottom with an image from My Favorite Things.

I'm such a good wife, LOL!

Hello, Spring

 

I am so *sick* of winter!  That might not be the nicest thing to say but these extreme cold temperatures are getting to me. Perhaps I need a little Vitamin D, LOL.  I decided that for this card, I needed to make my own little spring.  I only allowed myself to use warm colors and flowers.  It was a nice little escape.

To make this card, I stamped the DRS Designs image of "Medium Daisy Bloom" three times with Marvy black dye onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored them with Copic markers and cut around them with detailed scissors.  I added transparent pink buttons and Baker's Twine to the flower centers.

The card panel is a pink sheet of cardstock repeatedly stamped DRS Designs "Lines O'Plenty Background" using Adirondack Mountain Rose dye ink.  A strip of white cardstock was used, along with a die cut "hello" from Paper Smooches using black cardstock.  I placed the flowers onto the card panel.

My hope this card brings you a little warmth and helps you to believe in the promise of spring. 

So Sorry Calla Lily

Sympathy cards are hard to make.  I thought I'd share one I made for the "I'm Sorry" challenge over on the DRS Designs Blog.  If you have a chance, play along for your chance to win some free stamps.

To make this card, I stamped the DRS Designs "Calla Lily Sympathy Frame" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers and cut around the frame.

I placed the framed image onto a piece of white cardstock that was dry embossed.  I framed this panel with black cardstock, added a sheer white ribbon and bow, along with a black button.

Very CAS.

A Little Heart Balloon

It's Tuesday!  Time for another challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog.  This week the challenge is to use pearls.  And, just like I did in my wedding, I almost forgot the pearls.  If you can find the one pearl on this card (created with a Viva Pearl Pen), perhaps I should offer a prize.  Tell you what, if you want a prize, just play along this week for your chance to win two free digital images from Sassy Cheryl's.

For my card, I printed the image of "A Little Heart Balloon" onto X-Press It cardstock.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  I'm a little obsessed with making small hearts with Copic markers so, that helps explain the background.  The sentiment is from Hampton Arts.  Look closely...you might see how this card barely meets the challenge, LOL.

The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye.

Monochromatic Tom and Tilly

This heartfelt Mo Manning image is from Penny Black and is called "Tom and Tilly".

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It cardstock.  The entire image was colored with Copic markers (W00 throughW6), with the exception of the flowers.  The sentiment is from DRS Designs.  I rounded the corners with a punch.

LOVE how this turned out.  I think thing monochromatic coloring is easy than using multiple colors.

I am entering this into Penny Black's current challenge, "Sending Hugs".
