Goodbye, Outlines

It's Monday! And unfortunately there will be no more Monday Challenges on the Outlines Challenge blog. In case you haven't heard, the Outlines Rubber Stamp Company has decided to close.

I wanted to thank Outlines for their extreme generosity. It has truly been an honor to be on their design team. Jenny Gropp and the rest of the gang are terrific. Their creations truly inspired me each and every week.

The rubber stamps on the Outlines website are now 20% off. They will be doing a few more shows this year, including Akron and Cincinnati, until their inventory is sold.

I thought I'd end this post with a few of my favorite creations over the past year.













I am sure I will continue to use my Outlines images well into the future because they are some of the best ones in the industry, so I hope you will continue to visit my blog periodically.

Rubbernecker Mother's Day Hop

For my card, I stamped the Rubbernecker image of "Daffodils" (SKU: 506-03) onto Curious Metallics Cryogen White cardstock with Marvy black dye. I colored the image with Copic markers. I used a Nestabilities die to cut the image panel and also paper pierced around this panel. The sentiment of "Thanks So Much" (SKU: 565-18) is also stamped with Marvy black dye and cut with a smaller Nestabilities die. I paper pierced around the sentiment as well. The image and sentiment were then placed upon a piece of patterned paper from Graphic 45 that was paper pierced and faux stitched with a color pencil. The card is completed with a gold ribbon and has an overall iridescent shine since I used the Cryogen White.

It's Monday! It's time for another challenge on the Outlines Challenge Blog. This week our challenge is the theme of Spring. Easy enough with all of the springtime images available at Outlines. For my card, I chose the focal point to be the Outlines image "Easter Birdies" (I-1152) which is from the Serendipity Collection. I colored the image with Copic markers after stamping it with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock. I used an Ice White Viva Decor Pearl Pen to put some shine on the eggs.

I framed the main image with "Fancy Frame" (K-1185) which is also from the Serendipity Collection. I stamped it with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock. I chose to leave it white.

Patterned paper from Jillibean Soup provides a panel for the framed image. I paper pierced around this panel. I added Blossom Light Pink Baker's Twine to the card.

Stampin' Sisterhood, Pupcake

It's Sunday! Time for another Rubbernecker Stampin' Sisterhood Challenge! This photo made me think of the "pupcakes" I buy from Three Dog Bakery for my dachshund, Sloopy. She absolutely loves them, so I decided to recreate a paper version (even though I am certain Sloopy would have preferred the real thing!).

I stamped the Rubbernecker image of "Dog" (SKU: 569-18) onto X-Press It cardstock. I colored it with Copic markers and then cut around the image with my Cutter-bee scissors. I set this aside for the time being.

I then began construction on the "pupcake". I used the Cricut cartridge "Sweet Treats" to cut the cupcake image. Patterned paper from The Paper Studio, Making Memories, off-white cardstock, and pink cardstock were used to form the various layers on the cupcake. I sponged lightly with Distress Ink Spun Sugar on the candle, Vivid Butterscotch dye on the flame, SeaShells Sandal dye on the cupcake, and Adirondack Sail Boat Blue on the cupcake liner. I highlighted some of the cupcake with Crystal Stickles. I adhered some some bone charms on the cupcake to appear as sprinkles.

I then merged the cupcake with the dog to create my "pupcake".

Let the Madness Begin...

Yesterday I had the honor of posting the weekly installment of "Tuesday's With the Team" on the Rubbernecker Stampin' Sisterhood blog. Here's the card I shared:

Are you ready for March Madness? I am! Starting tomorrow I'll be glued to my television whenever I can, cheering for all of the underdogs and for my beloved Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament.

Because of this, I thought it might be fun to make a card for the event that I truly do consider a March holiday. I stamped the Rubbernecker image of "Sneaker" (SKU: 69-10) with Marvy black dye ink twice onto X-Press it cardstock. I colored both with Copic markers and then cut around the shoes. I merged the two together to appear as a pair of basketball shoes.

To make the basketball, I cut two circles on my Cricut using the George and Basic Shapes cartridge, one with orange cardstock and one with black cardstock, with the black circle being cut using the shadow feature. I sponged some Adirondack Sunset Orange onto the orange cardstock. I then drew some lines lightly with a pencil onto the orange circle where I wanted my black lines to appear on the ball. I cut along these lines, and then ran the orange pieces through a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I arranged the orange textured pieces onto the black circle allowing some separation between the pieces so that it would appear like the black lines on the basketball.

I printed a tournament bracket and cut it into a panel. I paper pierced around the panel and framed it with black cardstock.

After placing the basketball and sneakers onto the bracket panel, I added an Ohio State logo sticker and sentiment flag to the card. I highlighted some of the teams on the bracket with a Copic marker.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming NCAA Tournament, and I hope your favorite team goes deep into the tournament. And, yes...I realize I just totally jinxed Ohio State.

Easter Basket

This week, I chose to work with the gorgeous Outlines image "Spring Basket" (I-1162) from the Serendipity Collection. I stamped the image with Marvy black dye ink onto X-Press It cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers and added a few Crystal Stickles highlights.

I framed the image with patterned paper from Pebbles and Lasting Impressions. The corners on the image panel and the Pebbles panel were rounded with a punch. I added a pink button along with a bow of Blossom Light Pink Baker's Twine.

Bloom, Sunflower

It's Monday! It's time for another challenge on the Outlines Challenge Blog. This week we have a sketch challenge. Make sure you play along with us this week for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate from the Outlines Rubber Stamp Company.



Here is the sketch we're working with this week:



Since it appears as if winter is never going to visit around here and give me a much needed snow day, I decided to brighten things up a bit and jump right into growing season with this sunflower card.

To make this card, I first stamped the Outlines image of "Sunflower" (H-81) twice onto X-Press It cardstock with Marvy black dye ink. I colored them with Copic markers and sponged a little bit of Distress Wild Honey ink onto the center of the sunflower. I cut around these images with my Cutterbee scissors and then placed them on top of each other to create a sunflower full of petals and dimension. I then stamped the Outlines image of "Posey Leaf 2" (E-1046) onto X-Press It cardstock with Marvy black dye. I colored the image with Copic markers, and then cut two of the leaves from the image. I used a Memento Tuxedo black marker to draw the stem, and then colored it with Copic markers. Then I was able to assemble the sunflower and put aside.

The background panel was stamped with the Outlines image "Small Dot Background" (I-552) using Distress Ink Faded Jeans. I then sponged Adirondack Sailboat Blue dye, Vivid Sky Blue, and Distress Ink Faded Jeans onto the panel. I rounded the corners with a punch, and paper pierced and faux stitched with a white Prismacolor pencil. This panel was then framed with kraft cardstock. The strip across the near bottom of the card is also kraft.

The sentiment is a small portion of Outlines "Blooming Layering Collage" (K-701). I simply inked the sentiment with a Memento Tuxedo black marker and created a little sentiment flag as suggested by the sketch. The letters are colored with Copic markers.
