Version 2 of Marker Artist

As I told you in yesterday's post, I am in need of two thank you cards to express my gratitude to two talented stampers for organizing and hosting two recent coloring classes I taught.

I decided to use the same Squigglefly digital image from Cheryl Alger as I did for the first thank you card. I printed it onto Georgia Pacific cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. Not wanting to think too much I used the same general layout as yesterday's card. Various patterned paper, black cardstock, a corner punch, and a chipboard flower were used to complete this card. The sentiment is computer-generated.

If you look closely, you'll see that I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the corners and center of the flower. Because of this, I'm going to submit this card for Challenge #15 on Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog, which is to use embossing in some way.

Want to be a Marker Artist?

Last month, I was honored to have the opportunity to teach two coloring classes, one with Copic markers and the other with Prismacolor pencils, to some local stampers. I need to send a huge thank you to the hostess of the classes and the organizer/recruiter for the classes. This is one of two thank you cards I'm making with this Cheryl Alger's digital image from Squigglefly. I think it is an appropriate image to use, given the content of the classes.

I printed the digital image onto Georgia Pacific cardstock and colored it with Copic markers. Patterned paper, black cardstock, brads, ribbon, and a corner punch were also used to complete this card. The sentiment was computer generated.

It was a lot of fun to teach the tips I've gathered along the way on how to color. Thanks, ladies!

I Heart This Tile

Did you know that you can color on marbled tile with Prismacolor pencils? This is just one of the many things I learned from Terry Medaris a couple of years ago at one of his fabulous classes.

I decided to get out a marbled tile from Lowes and do a little practice. This gorgeous image is from Terry Medaris. I stamped it with Stazon Jet Black and colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils. I used Terry's coloring of this image as a guide...because I've come to the conclusion that no one knows how to use color like he does. After coloring the tile, I sprayed it with workable fixative.

Sloopy Asked For Me

Those of you following the saga of me getting a wedding party together will be pleased to learn that I got Sloopy to ask her sitter if she would be in the wedding. And, thanks to Sloopy's efforts, I'm elated that she agreed to be a part of our special day.

I decided to make the front of the card seem like any other card. This would fit Sloopy's personality. The Sloopy Dog looks out for herself first and is always demanding belly rubs. This adorable dachshund image is from Cowtown Stamps. I stamped the image with Marvy dye black ink onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. I colored it with Copic markers and cut it out to adhere to the patterned paper panels. The speech bubble and sentiment are computer-generated. Patterned paper, black cardstock, ribbon and adhesive pearls were also used to complete the front of this card.

The inside of the card is where the question is asked...I altered a Cowtown Stamps dachshund image by placing a bouquet from Hero Arts into the mouth of the dog. These images, like those on the front of the card, were also stamped with Marvy dye black onto Georgia Pacific cardstock and Colored with Copic markers. Patterned paper, black cardstock, and computer-generated speech bubble and sentiment were also used to complete the inside of the card.

Be In My Wedding?

I have had the hardest time asking my friends to be in our wedding party due to their busy, hectic lives. Also in my thinking is who really wants to wear a bridesmaid's dress? No one. I wouldn't.

But, I am absolutely thrilled, honored and so very grateful that the recipient of this particular card has agreed to stand beside me on our very special day.

Since I'm a wimp and couldn't even ask face-to-face, I made this card in hopes that it would do all the work. I used the digital stamp "Happy Mother's Day" from My Favorite Things and altered it so that the lady was carrying a bouquet rather than the original flower pot. I did this by printing the image and cutting out the lady's body and using it as a template to trace. I then stamped a bouquet image from Hero Arts. All images are on Georgia Pacific cardstock and are colored with Copic markers.

The sentiment is computer-generated on patterned paper, and was punched using an EK Success paper punch. Texturized cardstock and Martha Stewart adhesive pearls were also used to create this card. The inside of the card has the recipient's name with a question mark.

Singing Cactus

I cannot resist Southwest images, especially cacti. So, when I saw this singing cactus from Sparkle-N-Sprinkle stamps at Stampaway a couple years ago, I had to have it.

The panel was sponged with various inks to create a desert sunset. I sponged SeaShells Conch Shell dye, Adirondack Sunshine Yellow dye, Adirondack Sunset Orange dye, Marvy English Red dye, and Memories Soft Baby Blue dye onto Georgia Pacific cardstock. I circle punch was used to make a mask, both positive and negative, that allowed me to make the sun. The ground is simply torn beige cardstock that was sponged with Adirondack Latte dye ink, and Vivid Taupe ink. The faint cactus shadow was made using Prismacolor pencils.

The cactus is stamped onto Georgia Pacific cardstock with Marvy dye black ink and colored with Copic markers. It was cut and placed onto the desert scene. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

I'm thinking of using this as another retirement card.

Some Dough For You

It is Mother's Day today and I thought I would share the card I made for my Mom. She and I have had an understanding for years about what she truly wants and uses...CASH. So, for holidays, I don't have to spend hours shopping trying to figure out the perfect gift. I simply go to the ATM, get some cash and she can buy for herself what she wants.

So, when I took a look at this chef from Whipper Snapper, I thought it would be clever to use it with a computer-generated sentiment "Some Dough For You".

The image from Whipper Snapper was stamped using Marvy dye black ink and cut out from Georgia Pacific cardstock once colored with Copic markers. I placed it on a sponged gradient panel (another assignment from the online class) cut and embossed from a rectangle Nestabilies die. Inks I used to sponge the panel include: SeaShells Conch Shell, Distress Ink Mustard, Adirondack Butterscotch dye, Adirondack Willow dye, Adirondack Lettuce dye, and Adirondack Oregano dye. A white gel pen was used to faux stitch. White brads and patterned paper where also used to complete this card.

In a few days, my Mom will let me know what she bought with her "dough."
